Hank Aaron won naturaly and he had a true love for the game and for his team.
Bonds on the other hand is on steroids, thinks only of himself, he lately has been hitting but the team keeps loosing games one after another. He does not show interest in his team nor the fans.
Bonds is in a hurry to beat the record so as to retire with the record beat and be in the "hall of fame?".
Any player on drugs only goes for himself and forget the team and the fans. Children look up to the players as heroes, Bonds lost it a long time ago.
Aaron is the best.

Now try comparing Bonds to Aaron to Ruth.Ruth was the greatest player of all time whether you like it or not.
Ruth spent 1914-1919 pitching for the most part.He won 89 games and lost 46 of them and in those years compiled a 2.55 era.People hang on Roger Clemens sack for having stats like this but forget that Ruth was doing this all before he became a regular fielder.Ruth had almost 2600 less at bats than Aaron and was considered to be out of shape although at his worst he was 235 lbs in 1935 and stood 6-2.He was pudgy but not obese like hollywood has portrayed him as.Johngoodman was probably pushing 375 when he played in the babe.
Barry has tarnished baseball forever.Thank God he will probably retire after the season is done and can go live in seclusion and die 20 years earlier than he should because whether people say he took them legally or not they will be the main factor of his death. Was Barry this greedy that he chose to risk an early death to beat a stupid record?

The one thing that should always be considered when comparing players is the era in which they played. Aaron played in an era when pitchers dominated to such an extent that the rules were changed to even the odds. HRs and runs were far scarcer, a 4.00 ERA was a disgrace.
Let's not forget that sluggers are paid to drive in runs. Aaron drove in 2297 --- the all-time best. Bonds has 319 fewer.
And, Aaron did it with class and dignity. Bonds is an unscrupulous lout.
To the apologists who say that steroids & HGH weren't banned: even if baseball turned a blind eye, they were illegal when Bonds used them. They are controlled substances whose possession without a bona fide medical reason is illegal. There are best-interest clauses which, if Selig had any integrity of his own, would be invoked to permanently end this outrage.

Barry is currently under investigation and admitted to taking a banned substance. So (according to fellow poster koalafamily) Barry is being "negative", "knows nothing about baseball" and is part of a vast media smear campaign against himself. Koala's post is absurb.
Closed-minded is one thing but to call anyone with a different viewpoint ignorant is, well, ____________ (i'll let you fill in the blank).
Barry has taken a stance hostile to the Hall of Fame. He knows the truth will eventually come out, which will earn him banishment from baseball. If there is a more plausible reason for a player turning his back on the HOF, i'd like to hear it.

Bonds has been walked 2500 times which is 300 more than any player in history. He has below 10,000 AB compared to 13,000 by Aaron. He's in the top 3 in hr/ab all time and has had the highest obp% in history at over .600. Bonds also has 500 stolen bases.
Aaron was surely the better man, but barry was by far the better player.

All you proved is that he had a long, good career. Bonds was an all-around player, Aaron was a good hitter. You're right - there is no comparison. Bonds is huge leaps and bounds above Aaron - he was/is a great hitter and an all-around beast.
Aaron never hit 50 in a year, said himself he "never hit a moving fastball", and won three gold gloves to Bonds' EIGHT.
Bonds is also the only player in history with more than three MVP's (he's got seven).
You made all my points for me. It's obvious you know nothing about baseball.

Barry has 73 HR's in one season (MLB record).
Barry will have surpassed 756 HR's in his career (MLB record and 2nd to the world record of 868).
Barry has the MLB record in walks.
Barry is still playing baseball.
Barry's records will not be tainted because drugs were taken legally.
Barry's records will not have asterisks because asterisks only mean the totals are valid, but with notations, which don't matter.
Barry took steroids and HGH when those drugs were not banned or illegal in baseball.
I agree with the fans here that say that the negative posters know nothing about baseball. They are just fanning the flames of propaganda sparked by the media's smear campaign against Barry.

People that know nothing of baseball expect for the record. They are just comparing the players because of the record and that is the only reason.

Don't forget the pressure Aaron had to deal with when he played......He couldn't eat in the same places as his white team mates also all the death threats that he received as he was getting closer to breaking a white man's record...

Bonds has done some things Aaron hasn't:
Best single-season OBP in history
Most HR in a season
300 hits + walks in a season
40/40 HR/SB
More HR than Strikeouts in a season
Aaron played in a better ballpark for much of his career (and in a worse one for the first half). Compare their road statistics for a good, neutral comparison.
