Do your thoughts just seem to pop into your head, or are you completely conscious of creating them? Do you have any control over your thinking processes, or are you at their mercy? Explain to me, in your own words, where the thoughts you are having when you feel out of control, or not motivated, or happy, or sad, or whatever. come from. Out of no-where or what?

I asked this question once before, but I didn't word it as well as you have. I didn't get any real answers, but I hope you do because it's something I've always wondered about. I know your emotions are triggered by different chemical reactions in the brain, but I am curious to know how we THINK what we THINK, or the way we think. And can we really train our thoughts to be more positive? Sorry I don't have the answer, but nice question!

NAH !
I believe that thoughts have to come from somewhere.
Thinking is what makes us human.
I think the way we think can come from the way we were raised .
Probably some of the things we think are connected to hormones or other chemicals in our bodies .
The way I am feeling affects what I think about, or HOW I think about them.
I am religious so I believe that my Creator gave me the power to think and that is what separates me from the apes and, monkeys, dogs etc

Usually my thoughts run like a highway system, many exits, turns, dead ends, on ramps, traffic lights and stop signs. Sometimes I experience wrecks and sometimes all is smooth. My thoughts can ramble and be loose or very concrete, there's no tellin' with my brain. I have learned to control what is not welcome.

I think it's like your dreams. It's a compilation of your person, upbringing, views, beliefs,... mixed with the way your day went and the people you choose or don't choose to be around every day, along with the way you see yourself, and throw in your financial situation and personal (love) life.

Hormones, neurons, experiences, history, genes, chemicals, medications, the weather, etc.
