Legitimate Modeling Agencies do NOT charge to teach you how to model. They train you for free.
Any agency that asks for money, first, is a SCAM.
You will NEVER get hired to model at the prestigious department stores in your city: Neiman-Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor, etc.
Once you are trained and get model bookings and earn money, they take their commission from the money you earned, and pay you.
JRP charges $2,000 and does NOT give you free modeling training. They keep all of the money.
Legitimate Modeling agencies make sure you are
well trained before you book assignments.
In the 1940-1960s, JRP was the TOP Modeling Agency in NYC. When John Robert Powers died, his family must have sold his name as a franchise business.

Anything that wants money up front is a bad idea.
There are no sure things in this industry. none.
Go to the SAG or AFTRA web sites and look for an agency in your area, go to one of there open calls or submit your information (resume and headshot, or snap shot if your just getting started)
If your just getting started, try a shool or church play, check out your local community college, they might have some film or acting classes, or student films you can get involved with.
its all a start.

It's a lot of money for training you can get elsewhere for a lot less and it doesn't do anything for you.
Junior College Theater courses will do just as good an will be cheaper and are accredited.

Every serious aspiring actor and acting teacher knows about JRP. There was even an article on the web about how bad they are.

it is a scam they tell you, you are good and getting better just so you will stay and keep paying money. This place is VERY well known for scamming people and ripping them off when they may not have a lick of talent.
-hope I was able to help you! good luck!
