I am disliking Bush more & more as time goes by, but you got this one wrong!
They stopped using Thimerisol, the mercury based preservative, in 2001. The last of the older batches that still had it expired in Jan of 2003. Yet the rate still keeps climbing. Since autism is most typically diagnosed at the age of 3 years, & the shots which get them blame are given between the 1st & 2nd year, if Thimerisol was responsible for autism, the rate would start to drop around 2003 & drop to it's lowest by 2006. Bush's quote was made before the stats were all in.
NOW that they ARE in, it is clear that Thimerisol was NOT a significant factor in autism! If it was, we would be experiencing a major drop!
Perhaps this is why Bush will not ban it's use in the one childhood vaccine it is still used in.

Regardless of its link to autism or not, mercury is the second most toxic metal known to man. The first is uranium. Why do you think you have to wear protective gear handle it? Any third rate chemist could have told you that. So having said that, my question is why would Bush want to remove the provision about mercury from the bill?

The newest research(2007) shows that mecury DOES NOT cause autism. Austism is now linked to genetic disorders.
School kids decades ago used to play with mercury in science classes. Those same students went on to become engineers, doctors, lawyers, etc..
Also, that bill has stuff other than mercury. Every hear of something called a "rider"? That is why presidents need line item vetos.

I guess he likes ruining a childs mind for life
Perfectly normal happy kids walk in to get their immunizations and months later they can't laugh, they lose motor functions and can't interact they way they did before the visit.
Yes, Mr. Bush likes to destroy lives and minds - it is all part of dumbing down America and playing God.
No Child Left Behind - as in no healthy child left behind!
I have the doctor spread them out so it is not so invasive and damaging.
After all - they can't go to school without getting the Autistic immunization murcury treatments - and if you home school you are put on a Federal watch list.
So its a no win situation - for the kids!

Unless Bush's cronies can make money on it he will
veto any bill. This man is so anti-the average American
and so pro big business and the wealthy.
He could give a crap about the health of our children.
Nothing this sorry excuse for a president, does, surprises me.

All we hear about mercury is bad, bad, BAD. So why is it in ANY product that it doesn't have to be in?
I wonder how much money the manufacturers of the flu vaccine donated to Bush's campaign?

"Known links to autism"?
Can you please cite this study that has found a link because this mysterious study has eluded all of us who actually give a crap and do our own research regarding this issue. Fact is there is no study and no "known link". In fact, this ridiculous hypothesis has been disproven countless times.
But that's not what this is about - it's about bashing Bush isn't it?

'yeah post a link or i don't believe it.
if so it may be because it's attached to a bill he wants pass.
if he is vetoing the bill because of that? then he's a putz.
those vaccines ARE the reason for the massive increase of autism. there is no doubt about it.

Bush is calling for an amendment that would remove the children's safety provision from the bill.
For safety reasons, it was removed from vaccines for cats and dogs. Why was it not removed from vaccines for babies?
