Here's a tiny list of where to start. Consider the activities that you find interesting and then build your activities around them.
Be sure to visit NASA (call to see where they are offering money off coupons) they have new activities every season, the Houston Zoo, all of the museums (the Children's Museum on Binz in the Museum District is a fantastic place for kids and admission is only $5 each and you can take lunch to eat there in their park or the snack bar is not expensive). Both Nasa and the Children's Museum are all day excursions. Visit Galveston. Once there go to the Strand, the Bishop's Place, Sea Wolf Park on Pelican Island, take the ferry over to the Bolivar Peninsular and go to Crystal Beach about 1/2 mile down on the right. Go to Schlitterbahn, a huge water park in Galveston, visit the museums there. Get on line before the dates of your vacation to see what else you would like to do here. There is sooooooo much to do in Houston. Try these sites:
NASA http://www.spacecenter.org/
The Children's Museum
http://www.cmhouston.org/
City Vistor Site
http://www.visithoustontexas.com/visitor...
(There is a section with 34 things to do that cost $2 or less each---a great value for a family, a group, or people on a buget).
The Houston Chronicle Newspaper Website
http://www.chron.com/
Check this website on Thursdays (under Entertainment) to see what is up and coming for the weekend.
Also, for a more liberal entertainment newspaper (but it has good restaurant reviews) see,
http://www.houstonpress.com/
For the water park:

Also, try:

and, for coupons and hotel packages, try:

Also, don't miss a visit to the largest church in the United States:
http://www.lakewood.cc/site/pageserver?p...
People from all denominations enjoy this church. Services on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays!
God bless you and have a wonderful time in our great city!

Visit my blog and you will get an inside view. The Galeria is a popular place to shop and a real experience. Galveston has a great beach. Austin and the hill country is northwest of Houston as is San Antonio and their great River Walk.
Spring time offers bluebonnets and wild flowers all through the countryside. The Texans, Astros and Comets are great franchises and all have new stadiums. See Rice for a beautiful, oak filled campus. There is so much to see but I hope that you take time to try our seafood here. It is some of the best in the country. Enjoy!

The San Jacinto monument is cool. This where Texans got payback for the Alamo and defeated Santa Anna. Has a battleship that is open to the public. It also has a tall tower that you will will recognize from Washington DC but, of course, in Texas it is taller. Take the elevator to the top for one heck of a view.
There are a whole host of other things to do. Alot depends on where you are coming from and what may appeal to you (or your friend).
The Galleria has world class shopping that would amaze someone from Des Moines but make a Mahattanite yawn.
Someone who has rarely seen the ocean would love Galveston.
Brady's Landing Restuarant on the Houston Ship Channel is great for dining and watching ships coming in and out.
But you must eat a Jame's Coney Island chili dog with cheese and onions for the ultimate Houston must have!

no such thing as a "teacup" Chihuahuas come in ONE size. "teacup" is a scam label to sell sickly runts for a high price tag. pure white is a recessive trait, its not a common color to find a chihuahua in. small dogs are not good with young children.. get your 2 year old a stuffed dog instead. He can have a real dog in a few more years when he is able to comprehend that dogs have feelings and needs. 2 year olds are too rough with small dogs.. they often want to handle them like stuffed animals.. the dog ends up being dropped or injured and then becomes fearful or aggressive towards young kids.
