Message: Actually I am a very successful real estate agent. I have been the top in my county for over 5 years!!! And, I have bought and sold many homes! You have to understand, Realtors don't get paid until the home closes. So, you have worked your Realtors butt off, and now you are messing with their income over FIVE HUNDRED BUCKS! It's petty, and YOU are the rude one. I bet you are going to expect the Realtors to cough up the $500 just to get the deal closed, because that's how people like you work! Always looking for something to ***** about!

Message: Even though it was in your contract, it was NOT THEIRS TO SELL therfore making the contract void. That would be like your neighbor trying to sell YOUR car. I don't doubt that you are entitled to something, I just think you are blowing it WAY out of proportion. You have to ask yourself, what drew you to the home? Was it the swingset? If you knew in the beginning the swingset didn't go with the property, would you have bought it anyway? I think you are being very childish in the whole matter. And blaming your Realtor? The only thing they can relay to the buyer, is what the seller has told them to relay. How was it their fault the sellers lied? GROW UP AND MOVE ON OR SHUT UP!!!

This is the response I got from a "reall estate agent" when I posted the question on yahoo answers

Not the real estate agent people, the seller!!!!!!!!!! The agent made us meet at the closing and than I had to negotiate. The agent was a very nice man, he was scared of the seller and losing his business. I know agents aren't rich, but neither is any one else working a middle class job.

I would have NEVER asked the agent to pay the cost, I refused to close until the SELLER ponied up. Nothing to do with the agent. Geez people you are really make a poor name for yourselfs!

Being an "agent" realy means little. Certainly not class in this persons case. A very poor showing. I doubt they are "top sellers" either, because the top sellers get that way because they are likable.

Sadly, in CA you only have to answer 60% of the test questions correctly to be an "agent", so it does not mean a whole lot. YOu could get that guessing at the answers. No other perfession only doesn't care if you are incorrect 40% of the time.

Omg!!! I can't believe that. You know, the sad news is, is that that's how the business is, it's hard to find honest, non shady people out there. This puts a strain on the ones of us that are out there that are honest and understand the rules of the business, but trust me they are out there. I would probably put that conduct on the border of unethical product. Do they belong the the national association of Realtors? There are rules that they have to live by to be called a Realtor and they can lose their privileges if they don't stick to those rules. I would find out and possibly make a complaint against them. I'm sorry you are going through this. In there defense, it is really frustrating when you do a lot of work and then don't get paid, however for $500.00 if they really want to close the deal they should cough up the cash. That still doesn't make it okay by any means what they said.

I would never say such a thing to a real client/customer, but Yahoo Answers is a different forum.

Apparently you are attempting to hold the realtor responsible for some missing swingset. You're wrong in the approach. The realtor did not remove the swingset. The SELLER removed it. Your ***** is with the seller.

I've been approached by clients like you in the past, and I have to seriously bite my tongue to maintain control. You need to live with reality and place the blame where it belongs.

Sorry, couldn't read the entire post, it was way too rambling on when you could have just been concise and asked if you were bound to this other realtor if you signed a contract. Point is, you ARE bound to the contract unless she lets you out of it. If she says you are free to go to another agent, get it in WRITING. If she suddenly has memory loss and doesn't remember telling you 2 weeks notice to void the contract, you will need to talk to her broker and may be bound to take someone else in the office to work on selling your house. As an aside, bragging about hunter green blinds and carpet isn't a great thing. Buyers want neutral colors. Hunter green is NOT neutral, and may in fact, hinder the sale of your house if someone has an aversion to green. Hunter green blinds will probably make a room look smaller too.

Well, in defense of the others, it did sound initially like you were holding the Realtor responsible for the swingset from the tone of the response you got from the Realtor. Contrary to popular belief, people don't commit the questions to memory to follow along in case someone posts a follow-up.

So, don't be so quick to fire off that "we" are making a poor name for ourselves.

Professional, no. But obviously something got her dander up, although I am at a bit of loss to what that would be.

I am a Realtor also and I understand that persons anger at your pettiness. We hear it all the time..how much do you people think we make of selling/buying houses. Not as much as you think.
