I currently make $7 at my fast food job, and have been offered $10 at an office for filing, and little arrend things. I have worked at my fast food job for a year and still haven't recieved a raise. I hate being a cashier. I need to know how to write a two weeks notice, being polite. I don't wont to work for the two weeks, but i don't want to have a bad refrence on my future resume. HELP! Thanks ahead.

Well I gave them my two weeks yesterday. My manager was really upset. I told her that i could try to come in on wensdays and saturdays, which i really don't want to but i'm a people pleaser so i blurted it out. So she's going to ask the boss and she what she says. I'm kinda hopeing she says no that i just work the two weeks and go on my way. Anyways thank you so much for the answers.

Short, sweet, and to the point:
thank you for the opportunity to work with your organization. I recently received another job offer which will provide for more growth and development. I respectfully notify you that my employment with your organization will terminate on ______ (fill in the date).
respectfully yours,
XXXX
Best of luck to you and congrats on the new job!!

A job, particularly a fast food job, is not a life commitment. I'm sure your manager has plenty of experience with employees quitting. It sounds like you have a valid reason for seeking employment elsewhere, so tell you manager exactly why you are quitting if they ask. Let them know that you simply are not getting enough hours to make it worthwhile for you to continue to work there. You should have the courtesy and professionalism -- even if it is fast food -- to offer to work your 2 weeks after turning in your notice. Your manager may tell you that it won't be required and you can leave immediately, but in any case at least you have offered.

All you need to do is write a quick note to your manager.
Dear Manager,
Thank you for the opportunity in your restaurant. I have learned alot over the last year. At this time I must turn in my two weeks notice. My last day will be __________.
Sincerely,
______________
That's all you have to do. Some managers will make you work out a notice, some won't. It is always best to work out a notice and leave on good terms....you never know what may happen in the future. Manager's always appreciate the crew members that turn in and work out a notice.

Just tell them, that you need to work in a more challenging environment, and that you've been offered a job somewhere else. That is is an opportunity you cannot pass up. And that you appreciate the job they gave you. Then tell them, this is your two week notice, and that you would like to fill out any paperwork if necessary. Although I don;t think there is any paperwork to be filled out. Usually it is not a big deal at all, I've done this a few times.
Hope that helps.

You don't need to write it at all and if you do the fewer words the better. Politely thank them for the opportunity to work for them and then tell them you have decided to pursue other opportunities.
Take the letter in person and hand it to your boss, in private. If they aren't in a private office tell them we need to talk can we step outside or into your office. Then explain you have been offered another job and accepted. Tell them your new employer wants you to start right away so you are hoping they can allow you to leave without two weeks notice.
You will nearly always be allowed to leave they don't really want short timers.

if you already have the office job secured then write up a resignation giving at least a two week notice. the best way is to be honest and work the two weeks. it will be a plus on any resume you may submit for employment in the future.
in your resignation tell them when you will be leaving and that should be sufficient.

Just be honest about it. "Dear (Boss), I have gotten an offer for another job. I've decided to take it. My last day with you will be (date) Sincerely,"
If you speak with your boss, you may well be able to skip the two weeks. Give it a try.
Good Luck with the new position!

most employers are fine once you let them know (we employ ppl so this is how i know) and as long as you are honest it will be fine, just let them know that you have found a new position elsewhere that is better suited to your needs and you require to leave this current job asap. they should be ok with it, and if they arent what are they going to do fire you?
p.s. dont worry bout having a bad reference, as long as you tell people up front they should be ok...
