When it is too full to accept a file, it will not save it.
If you are that full, clean up deadwood or install a second drive.

Are you getting a system tray message that your D: drive is low on disk space? And is the D: drive your recovery partition?
If so, you can ignore the message. Windows is checking to see how full all your partitions are, and if D: is a recovery partition, it will show as being almost full. It SHOULD be almost full; why waste space in a partition you can't write to? This is for emergency recovery only.
If the message bothers you, and you don't care about monitoring space on ANY partiton, you can edit the registry and turn off the checking. See this site for instructions:

It means you can no longer save files on it. Try deleting files you no longer need such as video clips and programs you don't use anymore. Then if you have a c drive move some files to it to clear up some space on your d drive. If you don't have a c drive then get an external hard disk. That's what i ended up doing.

You just can't save anything else there. You should look into getting another hard-drive installed, or pick up a USB external drive to save more files.
If this is the main Windows partition, you will see a noticeable lag in system performance.

It seems such as you by twist of destiny saved a backup of the information onto the two your no longer elementary force and a DVD+R. Do searches (In commence -> seek) of the information you presently subsidized up and make valuable that there are not greater of those information. you additionally can attempt doing disk cleanups to eliminate non everlasting information by precise clicking drives and clicking on residences. in any different case, i'm in simple terms uncertain why you would be dropping room on your no longer elementary drives.

Hi. Everything gets bogged down and you will not be able to defrag. An additional drive is cheap and easy to install.
