BBC News 24 have already been saying that for ages.

No sensible media organisation should be saying that the current weather is caused by global warming. That said, the media aren't always known for being sensible.
It would be very naive to suggest that global warming did not have a role to play in the recent adverse conditions. We know that the world is warming up and of course this means greater evapouration from the seas, oceans and other bodies of water; ultimately this falls as rain. It's no surprise therefore that globally the average precipitation has been increasing in line with the rising temperatures, that's what we would expect to see and it is what we're seeing.
What we've seen in the UK of late have been abnormally high levels of rainfall and even if the effects of global warming are factored out of the equation then there would still have been record breaking rainfalls.
Global warming has made it worse but it's not the primary cause. The primary causes are the same as they've ever been.
In recent years we've seen a dramatic increase in the number and severity of flood events and unfortunately this is a trend which is likely to get worse in the future. If you live on a flood plain now would be a good time to move house and make sure you've got insurance.

The media haven't and wont say 1 word about this subject BUT the climatologists that are studying changes will publish their conclusions and findings and the media will reveal this as news.
Global warming DOES exist and weather patterns changing are part of it.
HOWEVER this is a mostly natural occurrence.
Imagine the history of the planet.
Now imagine a sine wave with winter at the top and summer at the bottom. 1 year contains 1 winter and 1 summer.
Up, down, up, down. A regular rhythm.
NOW imagine the sine wave is part of a much larger sine wave with the top being Ice Ages and the bottom being 'Garden of Eden' type weather. This sine wave is made up of the yearly changes.
The weather that is predicted is based on what information is available from when records began!
Even if there were records from 100 million years ago this would not give a great deal of accuracy in day to day meteorology.
The Earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old.
A Galactic year is the time it takes Earth's solar system to revolve once around the galactic center. It comprises roughly 226 million Earth years. We have around 221.5 million years to go before a full Galctic year has passed showing exactly what changes occur in weather patterns in that time.
Global warming will happen whether we change or not.
This planet is already overdue for an Ice Age as well as a MAJOR event such as a meteor impact or a Supervolcanic eruption.
Yellowstone may blow at anytime. Death may hit us from above at anytime. The star we orbit may Supernova at anytime.
Do what you can to help the environment but don't worry too much about 'experts' opinions as in 20 years time they may be proved completely wrong!

Well, I am no expert, by any means. That said, in my opinion the media has been addressing global warming for years now. I have read, seen, and heard numerous media offering very plausible explanations for every weather disaster that has taken place for the last 5 years, at least. The intensity of the 2005 hurricanes; Katrina, in particular, launched a flurry of, "it's global warming!" dire predictions of doom and the inevitable destruction of the planet by Mankind's own hand. Fires, hurricanes, floods, etc. are known to be cyclical, but the intensities of these events are increasingly touted to be the result of the ever progressing destruction of the ozone layer and the squandering of our planet's natural resources. I think, now, that the media truly is making efforts to get the messaging out.

The media will report that global warming is causing the current weather trend when the media is no longer controlled entirely by republicans.

Who listens to what the media has to say? They will say whatever gets them ratings - regardless of how true or accurate it is.
The fact is, weather and climate are 2 different things - google the definitions and learn the difference - or better yet, go to the web site below for an excellent source of information on the subject.

I heared on the news today that folk are jetting off to other places in the world where they can be guaranteed hot weather.
If their climate has not changed are we the only ones on the planet that global warming affects?.
