About a year ago, one of the barges on the river, ran into a
transformer pole. It was the first time in 82 years that power
to my little community failed. out 6 hours. In Birmingham the lights go off every time it rains. I have never seen anything like it. Of course Chicago is the city that works and I can remember 2 times in a lifetime.

The word 'safety' comes to mind. Comfort, too. Where I am warm and dry regardless of outside forces-or warmed and dried after the storm. I rarely feel like I have both cushions of safety AND comfort. So I don't really have much of an answer for you...I am my own home. Id invite others 'in'-but it isnt very nice and I know they'd be better off elsewhere, a handshake on the streets maybe...I spend a lot of my life watching people walk away, into homes (figuratively as well)that I'd eat raw liver every day just to be able to visit, just to sit on those 'cushions' a few hours a week. And I don't doubt there are many who would kill, just to sit on mine.

the last time was a couple of weeks ago. I was in the middle of drying my hair. It was only out for a few minutes, but when I reset the alarm clock I set it for p.m. instead of a.m. I was really late for work the next day.
