If I am your neighbor I would have no objections. Bees are busy with collecting honey and they don't tend to disturb people. But for keeping good relations with neighbors would be better to discuss it with them in advance.

I have lived next to people who had hives on their shed roof, and I have lived next to people that had many hives and produced honey. I never really saw a difference in the amount of bees that were in my yard except when my flowers were in bloom and they never bothered me. The only way it would be dangerous would be if the hive fell on someone. I dont think you should have a problem.

I agree with some of the others, i really dont think this is a good idea. most people that keep bee hives do it away from people, out in a feild or something, not on there house.

If one person that has allergys to bees, gets stung, and dies, what do you think.

There are reasons commercial beekeepers place their hives away from people.

Check with your insurance agent, and see if they are willing to cover you with hives on your roof.

It could, if one of your neighbors were allergic. Bee stings can be fatal to some. Check with them.

Also, be sure it's permitted in your city.
