Yes it will work however you won't be able to update it.

Get a free one.

For Good FREE protection agains Virus's and Spyware I recommend

AVG FREE -
AD-Aware 2007
Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4

You can also do a Free On-Line Scan from
Trend House Calls.

You can still scan even after your registration has expired, however, you will not be able to update your spyware definitions from their server. You will have to reinstate your registration (pay the $$$) to re-enable definition updates

There are many out there that perform as well, or better than SpySweeper that are completely free...

Ad-Aware http://lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php?PHPSESSID=de36e042e1c59bafcaac86863e964478

SpyBot Search & Destroy

And a ton or others...

Yes, but you are no longer getting new spyware definition updates which makes it almost useless.

The 'black-hats" create dozens of new spywares each and every day. Without updates, SpySweeper will not detect these new ones.

I doubt that you can update it. There are a lot of free options for anti-spyware. If you are using Windows XP you can download windows defender

Personally I use
Spybot search and destroy
http://www.safer-networking.org/

Adaware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

and spywareblaster

I think it is called shareware, you should buy it if you can afford to otherwise, tolerant the annoying notices, etc. Thats my take on it. Same thing Win.Rar does, still works but says I need to register it.
person above me is right on I think, get some free ones like AVG, I use AVG and like it. Also adaware home edition. works for me.
