I find that my son's bottle teats are all cloudy. I clean them really well in very hot water and usually microwave sterilise them, but since they went cloudy I've been soaking them in boiling water with a bit of detergent. It doesn't work though. I had the same problem with my daughter's, but when I soaked them they'd come out clear.

Anyone have any ideas why they do this and how I can fix it?

The teats are only a couple of weeks old. There are no cracks in them.

More than likely it is just soap scum or hard water residue. Don't worry too much about it as long as you are keeping them sterile. But one thing you may want to remember, microwaves will wear out plastic faster than anything else. It ages them prematurely. If you are boiling them too long you are also overheating the plastic & causing it to break down which could cause discoloring.

maby your son is gumming the teats more than your daughter is. It is possible if that is true that his bottle nipples could have eventually created more cracks from bending the rubber than she has. It would make more sense that his bottle nipple nipples are just more damaged than hers.

its just like any other item that gets cloudy, its soap scum, or water stains or something...wipe them clean after you wash them.

Do you have hard water, that can leave a build up.
