The storyline of the book is fiction, but its is great how it gets you thinking. Even if alls those paintings and films did have these msgs, it doesn't mean they are true. Maybe Da Vinci and Disney got their views wrong. There are many books left out of bible, this is widely accepted as being accurate and it does also ask another question, how comes Jesus never married? Especially in those times when a Jewish man not being married by his age would have got some looks. There are a lot of theories on the holy grails and litterally thousands of books written on the subject. Why is it also that in all bible stories, a woman was always the sinner. Eve and the apple, magadeline and being a whore there are many more examples in the bible. Strange in a male dominated religion huh?

Dan Brown has written an extrodinary book. If you haven't read the prequel to the book 'Angels and Demons' also featuring Robert Langdon as the main character you really should. It will explain some points made in the Da Vinci Code.

The book does get you really thinking though, i remember when i first read it. What a read i can't wait till the next book with Robert Langdon in it.

Josh Bernstein of the History Channel obtained a bone fragment of a supposed "direct descendant" of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. It contained no Middle Eastern DNA, only European.

Yes it is a book of fiction. There are books of history, historical novels and novels.

It really doesn't classify as even a historical novel. Because people who write historical novels usually try to keep basic facts straight.

The Dead Sea Scrolls do not mention Jesus, Mary Magdalene or Christianity.

The Knights Templar were banish in the 1300s. The Jesuit Order was not founded until the 1500s.

Pierre Plantard, a French con man is the author of the genealogy. He admitted under oath that it was a forgery.

He is also the inventor of the Priory of Sion which was founded in the 1950s.

Gnostic believed there was a God of good that created the spirit world and a God of Evil that created the material world including the world of the flesh. He gets most of his insinuations from the Gnostic gospels. There is a place where he stated it said Jesus kissed Mary Magdalene on the mouth. Actually the manuscripts are so bug eaten that it said, Jesus often kissed Mary Magdalene on _______. However, since Jesus has been portrayed as "The Word,"
early Christians greeted each other with a kiss on the mouth since words come from the mouth.

Most of his book is based on another book
Holy Blood Holy Grail. One of the authors of that book said if anyone states he believes that Jesus married Mary Magdalene, they are a liar. He said the book was only a hypothesis.

DaVinci's painting of the Last Supper does portray John the Apostle looking very effete by our ideas of what is masculine and what is feminine today. However, his painting of John the Baptist also look very effete.

OK I know I am going to get looked down upon for this however I am going to say it anyway. This is what I believe and don't believe. I don't believe in blind faith. No one that is alive now was alive back then so no one really knows what happened. I have a question for you. Would it have been so bad if he had a girlfriend/wife and/or had kids?? Would it have made what he did any less miraculous? I know it is a fiction book but it makes you think which is what a good book does. And yes there could be hidden messages everywhere. There is a possiblity. I haven't read the bible and I am not atheist either. The bible to me is a contradiction. I mean how do we know that everything in it is true? What just becuase someone wrote it many, many, many years ago doesn't mean that, that is really what happened? And why not put all of the books in the bible or was someone hiding something. I mean what about the Dead Sea Scrolls or others? Why aren't those automatically inducted into the bible if they happened at the same time. Plus all the magic that goes on in the bible (ex. Moses doing all of those things) I thought religion was against magic. So in answer to your question why not. I loved the book too. Enjoy the rest.

i would recommend rading the secret to the davinci code. the whole thing is a work of fiction and no the catholics don't have albino's running about killing people or self mutilation cults. Jesus did not have a girl friend, while Mary Magdelene might have thought - He might be a good catch - once she came to understnd and know that His mission was for all people she became a devout follower of Christianity.

just remember this.... the picture painted by davinci of the last supper -- is a replica of the last supper and the people in the picture are made to look like the people living around davince at the time. he was not around during Christ's time and it's not a snapshot - it's only his interprutation of what it would have looked like at the time :)

BTW - there will never be a DNA sample of Christ so the history channe and all those others (like the osuariry) were proven to be false or fake!

The book was incredible. I have never read a book so completely devoid of original material, so filled with one dimensional characters and a lacklustre plot lacking in spark. Not so much a rollercoaster ride at the fairground but more like a long queue at the post office. Yet somehow it became a huge bestseller. Luckily someone Lent it to me so I am not guilty of contributing money to the unoriginal Dan Brown. Yes, he rehashed other people's theories and his book was riddled with inaccuracies and downright mistakes but more than that it was so badly written. The only good thing about it was that it gives hope to thousands of would be novelists who might not have written anything but now think "well if that got published then so could my story".

Read The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail by Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh, and Henry Lincoln to see where most of the ideas came from. Read The Treasure of Rennes-Le-Chateau by Bill Putnam and John Edwin wood to see why the whole thing was a hoax by a very imaginative conman.

It's clearly possible. As for the disney movies, it's usually a literal message (like words).

If you look in the front few pages of the book there should be a paragraph or so of everything that is actual fact in the book, and not just myth or legend.

It was and still is the duty of a Jewish father to find a wife for his son. A the time of Jesus it was unusual for a man not to marry so it is likely that he was married. There are a number of gospels which were not included in the bible as the leaders of the church at the time did not want what was in them to be known so that information could have been suppressed. The Da vinci code is a mixture of fact and fiction just as the bible is so just believe what you wish to believe. The chances of your beliefs being correct as as good as anyone else's.

Paganism existed first - many stories in the bible are variations of the same Pagan stories. With the advent of Christianity things needed to be cleaned up - thus the virgin birth (not much different than being fathered by the moon god as many rulers of the time claimed) They seemed to have a problem with sex about this time so not only was Jesus born of a virgin - he himself never indulged. Historical records contradict this - but they are not include in the bible - so Mary Magdalene became not his wife (and the female half of the devine holy) but a converted whore. You really do have to study all religions to see the overlaps and alterations. It is fun.

It's probably not true, but Dan Brown has certainly done hi homework uncovering the hidden symbols that we have never realised existed. That's what makes it such a good book. It makes you wonder....

it became ok. it became extra advantageous than i presumed it would be through very damaging comments. in spite of the shown fact that, in case you hadn't examine the e book i do no longer think of you will possibly've understood it. if i had come into the theaters waiting for it to be a maximum suitable action picture, i might've been dissatisfied. yet considering that i became waiting for it to be undesirable, it wasn't somewhat as undesirable as i presumed it would be. yet all people has their own critiques, it particularly is impossible to make a action picture that all people will like.
