Ok I've been having problems with my comp and its telling me that my IP address has disappeared and is no longer being protected! How do I fix this?
Also it says a rule has been set to enable communications and is monitoring "intrusion prevention 861 signatures"! What is this? Am not sure whether its saying 861 people are in my computer or what if so how can I fix this?
Any help or advice would be great thanks!

It sounds like scam advertising (adware) trying to scare you into purchasing some useless software.

If your IP address "disappeared" you would not be able to access any web-sites!

I would run both of these on-line scans. Both are free and excellent at detecting and removing malware free of charge. There is no need to un-install your current protections before using these.

1. Scan for virus, worms, dialers, etc. and remove (free online scan, no downloaded program) with BitDefender's Online Scanner
http://www.bitdefender.com/

2. Scan for trojans, adware, cookies, and spyware and remove (free online scan, no downloaded program) with Ewido Online Scanner ( now known as AVG Anti-Spyware). This is NOT the same as AVG Anti-Virus.
http://www.ewido.net/en/

These scans will take quite a bit of time. The time is necessary to clean-up an infected computer.

Good luck.

It might be a message from a spyware blocker saying your IP address has changed , the one it was monitoring has disappeared and that it has 861 signitures to watch for that are known problems.

Without knowing more its hard to say .

post what virus protection you are using and you will get a better answer .

Go to the control panel and select the Internet connection. It will show you your Internet connections. Right click on you connection and select properties. Select the bottom to boxes and this will allow your Internet connection to show on you task bar. Once there select and the icon and click on support. This will let you reconnect to the Internet if a problem occurs on the network. Also check your firewall and spy software and anti-virus to make sure they are still enabled.

With an unnamed problem go to the Norton web site www.symantec.com and report your problem. They may have a special fix already for your problem. If not they will work with you to find a fix.

Maybe go download the new norton NIS7...trial version, just to fix whatever has happened. Then reinstall your existing norton. Then your settings will be back to normal.

You should also consider getting a recent Norton if you don't have it. NIS7 blocks your IP.

Check Ur Firewall settings or Anti-Spyware settings. Sounds like a configuration has been disabled to detect and prevent unwanted's.
