Do you agree with me or not, and why?

Here's how I rate TV talking heads, both announcers and analysts:

1) Peter Gammons
2) Vin Scully
3) Everybody else
4) The mildly retarded
5) A pile of bricks
6) Tumbleweeds
7) Fire
8) Joe Morgan

There's a reason why the website "Firejoemorgan" exists, and it's not to sing his praises. I've never heard anyone talk so much without saying anything, and he's the master at not answering questions directly proposed to him.

So to sum up, no, I do not agree.

So, you must be, oh, six years old, and never heard a game called outside of ESPN Sunday nights.

Morgan is a good announcer if and ONLY if there is absolutely no one else to compare him to... well, okay, he's a smidgen better than Hawk Harrelson, as Li'l Joe does know what he's talking about when discussing some hitting points or how to play D at second base. Outside of those rather small comfort zones, however, he's a blight on the listener's earholes.

Well, best in the history of sports goes pretty far. But he is good. He was a player with his head in the game, and he announces like that, too. Once in a while, when he is explaining something, he repeats details, but there are so many mediocre announcers out there that I enjoy Joe quite a lot.

He is a great announcer, but there are so many other greats, Tim McCarver (NBC), Vin Scully (Dodgers), Joe Buck (ABC) and his dad Jack Buck, Dave Neihaus (Seattle) , Ernie Harwell (Detroit), Red Barber, Phil Rizzuto (Yankees) < Harry Carey ( Cubs), Bob Uecker, Bob Costas . . .

I think whoever you like to listen to and is articulate, not too talky, knows their BB history and who doesn't always drone on about old games is good.

I guess my favorite would have to be Kurt Gowdy. He had such a great voice.

I have heard him state several times "that was foul tipped into the dirt", and have heard him totally botch rules explanations.

I think Skip is probably better, altough seems hugely arrogant. Chip will probably be the best of that lineage.

Joe is OK however.

The other day he said, " If they want to win, they are going to have to outscore the opposition."

When was the last time you saw a baseball team win without outscoring the opposition?

I don't think he's bad but he's not my favorite. But yet then I don't really have a favorite.

I do not think so, he is too arrogant.
I think that Harry Cary was the best.
