Find people who have them and ask them how it changed their lives. It probably made a big difference in their self esteem and their ability to apply for and get accepted for better jobs. Most employers won't even consider you if you don't at least have a GED or high school diploma. Probably one of the few jobs where you don't need one is fast food, like McDonalds or such.
