* The tank would be bare bottom so i could get all the derbis out aswell, And they will only stay in this tank untill they are about 6 months old.

Guppies don't have any territorial instincts, so you can keep more fish in smaller spaces without compromising their health. They are also pretty clean fish so ammonia poisoning is not a huge concern. You could keep more than 20 but no more than 30.

At 6 months, they will be full grown if you provide good care. I would say with proper filtration and proper tank maintenance you should be able to house about 25-30 in that tank.

depends if you are trying to breed them or not.
are you talking about feeder guppys (actually endler's livebearer) or show guppies. show guppies get a little bigger than endler's.

if you're breeding:
10M E + 10F E
7M G + 7F G

just keeping them:
all male or all female 20 E
same, 15 G

20 gallons, try looking at 15 all males,

or 5 males, and 8 females.

You ought to be able to get at least a hundred in there.

At least for the first six months. Bare bottom tank is gonna make the water a little cloudy unless you are pumping a bunch of water through the charcoal.

I know its one fish per gallon, but guppies are small. You can tell if there are too many fish in the tank. They will all be at the top of the water trying to suck oxygen of the top. That will give you a clue as to how many you can put in it.

In general, 1 inch of fish per gallon of water. 20 inches total, not counting tail fin
