Well, Pop-eye the Sailor comes to mind. but deeper, I'd make the snap judgement that you are stubbornly hanging onto some part of your percieved identity that someone else wants you to change...your choice if that's the case. Is this characteristic of yours a deal breaker in the relationship?
If so, is it worth it?
