Measures protecting tipsters are already written both into Federal Law and the Laws of every State.

Be honest, just for once, willya? The John Doe provisions were to allow witnesses to testify anonymously so that Defense teams couldn't raise possible ulterior motives in Court.

jpenergy, I don't think you understand. This provision will prevent people from being sued for reporting "suspicious activity." This is nothing like Soviet Russia. We were attacked by terrorists. If anyone is acting suspicious on an airplane, the other passengers have the right to feel safe and report it, without fear of being sued. If you disagree with it, perhaps you will sit quietly on the airplane while the gentleman next to you tries to light his shoe on fire.

1. I can't believe that the Dems blocked this bill. It's insane that now those that feel uncomfortable in a situation have to worry about their lives or a lawsuit.

2. I heard mention of this a few weeks after the Circuit City kid found the video of the "Fort Dix 6".

I beleive that in certain cases, perhaps the case where a mulsim is being treated poorly or being discrimanted aginst than in that case, a law suit is well deserved. IF someone was reported to be acting odd, than he will simply be invistagted, hopefully with no public humilation.

I used to like to report Republicans for suspicious terrorist like behavior - especially the far right ones. Unfortunately now they can sue me for it.

See how it works?
