I know everyone does different things when they're depressed, for instance I cry a lot, then listen some music, and then I sleep for hours. By the time I wake up, I feel a little bit better. But lately my 'remedy' isn't working as good as before... So what do you do? Exercise? Eat? Drink? Sex?
I wanna find better ways to get rid of depression.

I cry its a release for me, but it does give me a headack so i just go to sleep. Another way is to do something active like going to the gym, or you could go out with friends that always helps me. I usually think oh im so depressed i wont have any fun but my friends cheer me up anyway. As for sex i wouldnt do it when im depressed because i wouldnot be able to enjoy it that much. Although if I have a boyfriend I cuddle with him it really gives me a sense of peace.

Lately it's been harder.. I force myself to sleep all day, lol.

But, I really don't know. I think I'll stop having to do this when I live somewhere that I like and have a good partner. Try getting a pet maybe? They help a lot.. Or, just clean. It'll keep your mind off of things for a while.

I had the same problem and I went to my local Health food store and got some medicine to help.. The medicine I got is called At Ease made by Redd Remedies and another one named Sam-e... Check with your local health food store and just be honest with them on how you feel and they will tell you the best thing to take... I was upset all the time and would cry at the drop of a dime...I feel so much better taking it... Hope you feel better soon......

Well feeling down and depression are two different things. If your remedy isn't working, then maybe your not just down but are really depressed in which case maybe you should see someone, like a doctor. Seriously...becuz depression can be very serious.

I don't know. I used to write and cry and sleep but in the past few days I think I've just given up getting rid of it. Nothing I do works or is right.

Chocolate works really well, but I put on my ankle bells, and some funky music (which for me is Tijuana Brass or Polka...not kidding) and dance!! Or I'll go down to the Public Library in the ankle bells and a funny hat and ready to the pre schoolers. If that doesn't do it, nothing does. The children love the hat and we make up voices to go along with the books or we do hand and sock puppets...with plain sox. amazing what little children can think of.

I don't get rid of depression, I fully plunge in it. Listen to the saddest music, cry, and then it's like it fully left my system. For me the superficial suppression techniques don't work, because all they do is postpone or suppress the saddness. And also sadness is a moment of my life, and an emotion, so I grab it ! :)

I notice that my mood is better when I avoid sugar. The better I eat, the better I feel. Simple carbs make me feel good temporarily (sugar buzz) but later I feel listless and depressed. The sugar spikes the insulin, which drops the blood sugar too low again. More complex carbs keep the blood sugar stable. So does a small amount of protein with each meal.

do something different, make a big change,or a bunch of small ones, I was really depressed while i was living with my boyfriend, then I broke up with him, moved out(which I was really scared to do, not quite financially stable at the time) Everything went fine though, I started hanging out with new people, stopped being so introverted and shy, but most of my depression has always stemmed from social problems, yours may be different. and judging from the wording you are either drunk(quit drinking), foreign(homesick, call up your family), or really young(talk to your parents or friend about it)

I would not use sex as anything you use to help rid yourself of depression is easy to become addicted to. I usually write. Be it poetry, journaling, or simply words, I find that through a pen is the best release for my depression.
