what size vice-grip wrench should I buy to remove screw nuts/bolts from a car license plate?

buy a cheap set of nut drivers. a vise-grip will only mess up the bolt or nut, not to mention the surface of the plate.

Instead of buying a vice grip pliers to do the job. Why not buy a set of nut drivers. They will fit the bolt head better giving you more surface area to break the bolt loose. Or you could even use a 1/4" drive socket set with a ratchet.
Right tool for the right job. Always makes it easier.
