My friend hasn't had her period on the date expected. It's been a week and she's said she's been feeling nauseated recently, she's having body aches, gaining weight and changes in appetite, frequent urination, and odd sensations in the abdomen..

Her symptoms sound consistant with pregnancy, but the only way to know is to take a hpt, or get a blood test. I would recommend a blood test, simply because they're more accurate and can tell her exactly how far along she is.
You can suggest to her that she go to her local health clinic if she can't afford to, or doesn't want to go to her doctor for whatever reason. Health clinics will usually offer a pregnancy test at little to no cost - cheaper than a doctor, usually.
Good luck!

Does she have her period regularly? If yeah, I would take the test. If not, I would wait another week. She might just feel different if it was her first time of having sex.

could be, definitely. could also be stress and real bad pms, or some type of urinary tract infection-- but it also could be something dangerous. i'd get her a pregnancy test and get her to a doctor. women have many different symptoms of pregnancy, there's only one sure way to find out.

If a woman has sex, even if she's protected, she can get pregnant. She needs to take a pregnancy test.

it is likely she is, according to your description.
you can purchase pregnancy tests at a local drug store and have her take one, also, has she had sex? if she went unprotected than there is a VERY large possibitiy.

good luck and i hope everything turns out okay!
