I have been told to get a restraining order against my sister. She's 18 and lives at home with my mom and I. I am under 18. Everyday I am told by her that I am retarded (that I need special help which I don't need nor have I ever needed it or used any special services). That she could care less about me. That I'm a loser and that I am not going to be doing anything w/ my life after school. And some other stuff that's not appropriate for this...She's been arrested for domestic assult towards me. She can't hit me for a year otherwise she'll get thrown out. Problem is, my mom has to report this and she doesn't. I am not hit much by my sister anymore but I still get hit occasionally for not getting offline at exactly the same moment she wants on. Problem is, she's not nicer to our mom or any other family. My mom has high BP, and is always crying b/c of the abuse. I am wondering how best to go about this. I want a restraining order b/c I'm sick of how my mom and I are treated. Does it cost

Does it cost money for a Restraining order?
OK, don't tell me to ignore it. People already have. It's a daily basis that this happens to me. If you would tell me to ignore it, I say to you: You try living your life having all these things said to you. After you go to school and get bullied there. Examples: called names, Spit at, had rocks, mud, trash thrown at you, kicked at, etc. EVERY SINGLE DAY

It may be time to give mom a wake up call! Tell her if she does not kick the older sister out that you will find somewhere else to live. You are living in an abusive situation and you can go to the division of family services and live in a foster home if necessary.

The procedure is simple.
Go to your local county court. There will be a form you fill out to request a restraining order. There will be another form if you don't have the money to pay for it.
Fill out the forms. The court often has a clinic where you can get free legal advice on such matters.
