Bzzzzt Wrong.

Your charity propaganda from last year is false false false.

As for Conservatives giving Your forgetting Karl Rove laughing how he tricked Christians into Joining his Party of greed.

Christians have a 2000 year history of liberality and when this Rove fantasy has died. I am sure they will return the teaching of Jesus

When evaluating contributions to charity one must examine
1-What is the relation of the donor to the charity (Is the donor making contributions to his own foundation or one which represents his/her interests?)
2-What is the proportion of the charity contribution to the wealth of a donor (If a millionaire gives $100 and an average American earner gives $90, the absolute amount is a lot less meaningful than the amount relative to the person's wealth)

There are other factors to consider. I just wanted to show that republicans' claims may be grossly exaggerated.

Though I am not a con I have to admit that of all the volunteers I work with at the shelters I cook at ALL of them are Conservatives from local churches.
You see that is the difference, Libs want to take from the rich and give to the poor because they won't while the GOP is against government handouts BUT volunteer their time and money.

When was the last time YOU stepped into a houseless shelter? Mr "Liberal".

Why are you so determined to ignore the facts? It's been proven that Conservatives donate to charity far more than Liberals. You're only generous with other people's money!

And WTF? BOTH sides screw the working poor. If they didn't, your hero St. Bill would have done something to really help them. I think it's disgusting that we pay people to sit on their asses, and give them Medicare, but if you're the working poor - tough ****. Surely even a stooge like you has enough sense to realize that screwing the working poor is a non-partisan issue?

I CHALLENGE "Tin Foil Fez" to produce documentation to support his claim.

It is no exaggeration on my part that throughout my working career, most of the avowed "conservatives" I know were some of the cheapest SOBs I'd ever met.

My wife and I have always donated DIRECTLY to local shelters and charities (organizations like United Way have at least a 12% administrative overhead).

LISTEN UP, "Tin Foil" and "John K.":

I lived for ten years in an area of the midwest that has CONSISTENTLY had one of the HIGHEST PER-CAPITA EARNINGS in the nation, and with their job opportunities and low unemployment, the homeless shelters were STILL FULL because there are always people out there who are legitimately "in need" whether you choose to recognize that or not.

A lot of cons remind me of the bankers in that TV ad, where the little guy comes asking for a loan; pompous jerks who hide behind the phrase "personal responsibility."

I'll match my charitable contributions against any con in this forum. I can post photo copies of my financial documents.

I never claimed to be the "pinnacle of charity" nor do most conservatives. Our charity goes to those who deserve it though, not to the able-bodied lazy people who sponge off the government and think the government is there to support them financially.

I disagree Larry. The "working poor" are paid what the market dictates with a guaranteed minimum. Years ago the labor unions came to the aid of the "working poor". The UAW demanded more and more for less and less. The quality of American vehicles went downhill as a result. Then imports proved to be better. Now the American auto industry is a has been thanks to organized labor who wanted to champion the "working poor".
As for charity I think you have your facts wrong.

Cons give to the poor; however, we don't believe the government shouldn't be everyone's caretaker. Socialism has never worked because it destroys people's incentive to work for their families and everyone becomes a ward of the state.

Oh? Read "Who really cares" by Arthur Brooks. Conservatives donate *THEIR OWN MONEY* to charity approximately 30 percent more than liberals.

The Religious types, at least, tend to be generous with thier own money - giving to private charity.

Liberals do seem to be much more generous - with other peoples money, that is.
