What are your views? Why can/can't we use a barter system anymore for goods and services we need? There is always someone out there who needs someone who can do what we can't. And we usually have some skill or item that they need! What are your opinions?

I used to do some of this.
In Houston an outfit kept a data base and one could trade through them for any good or service. They kept all the records for a small fee.

The IRS finally took care of that, since trading/bartering avoided income tax. No more.

I have many stories of some people in the advertising business, who never paid out of pocket for anything. Restaurants, bars, travel...did some of that too. I could even buy some of the trade from a friend for 50% off. LOL
Some of that may, may, still go on, unknown to the IRS, but their big ears are always listening.

I think its ok as long as no one feels like they are being cheated and its all LEGAL. I have no problem with the barter system. If it works 4 you and it works well, I say do it.

Depending on the goods & services, I wouldn't oppose bartering...
