ATM's.
But use a debit card, and check with your bank what it is going to cost you per time you use it.
It should be free or little to use, if not, ask around because there are many banks that do give this as a free service.
There are many ATM's, almost on every street corner.

Take a few Euros, but do not take travelers cheques as they are expensive and not liked by the shop owners and hotel staff.

If you have a credit card bring it, but keep it for bills higher than about 20 Euro and emergencies.

Whatever you do, don't take travelers checks....they're a total pain to exchange and you have to worry about what time the banks are open, ect. I always use the ATMs, but I would bring along cash as well in case you have a problem with your card. Be sure to check with your bank before you leave to make sure your card will work. Also, many ATMs in Europe do not let you choose which account you will withdrawl from (checking or savings) so make sure you have the money available in your checking account. Also check to see if you have a daily limit. The fees for using the ATMs are a bit high, so try not to use them too frequently. Oh, I also bring over a little bit of money in Euros just to be safe and in case you need to buy a little something before you can get to an ATM.

take mainly travellers cheques but also some cash which you can use for the first couple of days until you get around to changing some travellers cheques.

CASH ONLY! I've heard lots of crazy stories about little shops and stuff ripping people off. You can buy forgin currancy on www.travelisbliss.com and use it all up so you don't have to worry about cashing it back in. If you have any trouble email me.
