If I leave and leave the bills unpaid, my credit would get bad.
I need credit to get a new place to leave after everything is over. I can't afford to pay the bills and pay for a new place to live. If the house would sell, then it would be easier financially. He says that he is sorry, but is not making big enough effort to show me that he is sorry.

If you leave, you are still liable for the bills. your best bet is to try to sell the house and pay off the bills. If you leave, your credit will be terrible.

Oh the chains that bind, they are your own chains. There several things you could do. File for divorce the courts will make him pay you half the equity and hold him in contempt if he doesn't keep the payments up. And with a court order lenders can not hold you responsible for that debt. Or you can ask that he refinance the house and sign your name out of it. And you don't necessarily need credit to rent a place, just the income.
You need to legally educate yourself. May I suggest you do a consultation with a lawyer to understand your options.

If it's your house alone, then make him leave, and consider taking in a tenant or two.

DUH, if it is your house you tell HIM to get out. HE needs to find another place. The bills will be split equally as will the rest of the marital assets, file for divorce and tell him to leave it's as simple as that.
