Apparently, just the cover. From some of what I've read, the covers were done differently on the adult versions so that adults don't feel foolish reading them in public. The photographic covers are supposed to be more adult oriented than the ones with the cover art on them.

Nope they are the same story just a different cover. I'm not sure whether they have adult version for book 1 - 5 but my Book 6 is adult cover. Actually they have different covers based on countries too. For example, the cover for US and UK is different and so on.

I do not believe the story is different. It's only the covers that differ; the child version has a cartoonish appearance which may not be appealing to adults especially ones trying to hide their fascination in a children's book.

No, the story is the same, the adult version, is just a cover that appeals more to adults, likewise for kids.

No, the stories are the same. I don't know why, I guess it's just like the same thing as different countries having different covers.
Hey Silly Rabbit, fancy seeing you here as we are both usually in P&S.

I'm wondering that too...
I'll wait for all the other answers.
Kinda odd though, that the US only has one edition and no children/adult editions.

The cover art is more subdued so as to attract less attention from other people who are less Potterized.
:-)
This is what it looks like:

The US only has one version, though, illustrated by Mary Grandpre.
:-)
Happy reading!
