Um - as a conservative, let me just say...well, I'm trying to be nice here, so I won't say it. I care about my planet and don't know a single person who says, "Ah, f* it! Let's see how badly we can ruin the environment." And, frankly, I am sick to death of the left sneering down their noses at anyone who doesn't toe their party line. (So much for diversity, huh?) The media made such a big deal about the 1600 scientists who signed a letter warning us about the "devastating consequences" of global warming, but you sure as hell didn't hear much about the SEVENTEEN THOUSAND scientists who signed a petition stating there is no convincing evidence that greenhouse gases will disrupt the earth's climate. Funny how that works, isn't it? But nah - there's certainly no liberal bias to the media, now is there?!?
I live in Alaska, and our climate is rapidly changing. We see it far more than you guys do - we're so much further north. Swamps are drying up. Our weather is certainly warmer and drier than it used to be. When I was growing up here, we *never* had big thunder storms - we live in a giant valley, and the clouds would lose most of their nastiness coming over the mountains. Not anymore! We've had some AMAZING storms this year - one would have even done Texas proud. When I was a kid, it was nothing for the temp to drop to -50 or -60...those temps are relatively unheard of anymore.
What conservatives don't buy is that man is inherently evil and is 100% to blame for the current climate change. The Great Lakes were formed by glaciers - who's fault is it that the ice retreated that time? The earth warms and cools. It has for millions of years and will continue for millions of years. How in the hell can you blame that one anyone?
And who in the hell are you to tell me what to drive? Do you honestly think I drive a big truck because I like spending a fortune to fuel it every month? I have a big truck because I - GASP! - *need* a big truck. We have a small farm. We haul horses, pigs, tractors, steel, building materials...whatever we *need* to haul. Those wussy little hybrids could barely haul a chicken.
Ahhhh, the left..."keep the government out of our bedrooms!" But invite them into every other aspect of our lives. What gives you the right to tell anyone what type of vehicle they can drive?!? Amazing.
Do you take public transportation? Walk? Ride a bike? We have people here who ride bikes *all* winter long. If they can do it in temps to -40, you sure as hell can do it. And write to your Hollyweird global warming fanatics - their private jet creates far more of a "carbon footprint" than my truck ever will.

Well I would take it more seriously if the people spouting it would. What have they done except tell others how to cut back on their use. People move to the desert areas now and expect them not to be hotter than h? Instead of doing selective forestry cutting they prefer to let thousands of forests burn every year. They slap concrete and blacktop over everything and expect this not to be a warmer area? I don't think All Gore is a good model for promoting global warning with his mansions and private jets! Get us a few scientists that agree with each other and it might help. I do try to recycle all I can in the mean time.

Average Global temperatures have gone up, overall, from where they were 50 years ago, in spite of having dropped a bit in the 70s. That's real - to within the margin of error of global meteorology in the 50s, anyway. If you're willing to call that Global Warming, then Global Warming has happened.
Global Warming in the sense of /projected/ climate change isn't real until it's happened (and, then, of course, it's too late). And, similarly the exact cause of what's been observed isn't known with certainty.
Global Warming as the doomsday scenario in 'Inconvenient Truth,' OTOH, is pretty unlikely to be entirely true.

Sure it's real, but your actions have little effect. We need a fundamentally different way of life. Consumerism is the ideology that is killing our planet. The Power Elite have embedded consumerism into our culture beginning in the late forties. The education/indoctrination system is the foundation of this. Since kindergarten you have been told that you are to desire cardboard cookie cutter houses complete with 2.5 children, fancy cars, and all the latest gadgets and fashions. In order to reverse this we need to re-learn how to be Producers initiating positive feedback in our environment, using new technologies and ancient wisdom.

A hot day in one isolated location doesn't tell you anything about global warming. Just like a cold day in Texas doesn't mean that global warming doesn't exist.
Global warming is happening and is primarily being caused by humans, but your example is not evidence of this:

I can't tell you why so many conservatives are global warming deniers, except that they simply don't want to feel responsible for global warming. However, there are conservatives who acknowledge the reality of global warming. George Bush (of all people), Newt Gingrich, John McCain, and Nikolas Sarkozy, to name a few. Even the Vatican has warned about the consequences of global climate change and gone carbon neutral. Pat Robertson has acknowledged it too!

Funny. But sarcasm aside, global warming is really happening. A few years from now, all those people who say it's just a hoax or some kind of liberal plot will deny ever sayng any such thing, and will claim they knew it was for real all along.

you guys think republicans don't believe in global warming and that democrats do? please...this isn't a matter of politics. global warming is occuring, we just have equally strong evidence on both sides of the "is it natural or human caused" debate.
For instance, i believe in global warming and i'm not a communist (or, a "democrat" if you will).

It's summer it's supposed to be hot. It's winter in Brazil where it snowed for the first time in a century.
