3 MEN GO INTO A MOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS $30,
SO EACH MAN PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM.

A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25,

SO HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH $5.

ON THE WAY, THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY
BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER $2 FOR HIMSELF.

THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A
TOTAL OF $27, ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29.

WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?

There is a formula for the order in which math is done . BEDMAS stands for brackets any equation in brackets is to be completed first followed by exponents then division then multiplication then addition then subtraction. You must use this order or the answer will be in error as is the case with the story. That is why you have two different numbers for an answer.

There is no missing dollar. After the bellboy gave them the $3 back they had each paid $9. 3 x $9 = $27 which gives $25 for the hotel and $2 for the bellboy. You don't ADD the $2 to the $27 paid you SUBTRACT it. Total cash is $30 comprising $1 each for the guests, $2 for the bellboy and $25 for the room.

it was 30 but then it was 25 so the bell boy took 2 dollars and gave the men a dollar each so its 25 plus the 2 dollars plus the 3 the men got back 25 plus 2= 27 plus the 3 equals 30 dollars the dollar was always there

That makes no sense. The three men went into ONE room, not three.
