If it runs ok & not acting up, then you shouldn't panic too much. It could be as simple as a loose gas cover. The evap valves were pretty common to go in these cars (can't remember if they set off the C/E light though). Should have it put on a scanner to find out exactly what's wrong if you're worried about it.

Autozone will do a free check of the light with their scanner.
If the oil pressure light is not on and the temperature gauge is in the normal zone, you will probably not do any damage driving it for a while. It could be something as simple as a loose gas cap, so I wouldn't worry too much right away.

Could be. Better to be safe than sorry. The check engine light means that it has "thrown a code". This code can be read by the scanner at any auto parts store. I think Advanced Auto, Pep Boys, and Auto Zone all have them. They might even do it for free...not sure about that...call them and see. Hope it something minor!

Its there to tell you to check your engine. You wont know how bad it is until you check.

get that checked at like autozone, that doesnt work.. get your sensors checked..we had problems with sensors in our cavalier

Check your millage, then go to the owners manual and it will tell you what fluid you need to get changed.
