before deciding whether to buy a beautiful piece of land in the tropics that has no structure on it, i'd like to live on the land for some time and so i'm looking for the best way of doing this with minimum spending but where my few belongings can keep safe and dry. any suggestions greatly appreciated

Tent camping? Are you in a country where thievery is a problem? Could you build a shed of 2 x 4s? and use bamboo
thatch for the roof and sides?

Best idea is to see what the "natives" use.

In South American village communities there are few walls and the communities use platforms for floor/living area (keeps the pigs, chickens out) and what need for privacy is made with planks (if they can afford it) or thatch of some kind of locally fast growing leafy stuff.
