I think he should go back to the pen for middle relief and they should bring Jon Lester up now. Tavarez is good for 3 innings then...BOOM...game over. He has said that he will do whatever the team needs him to do so, I say bullpen. What do you think?

My White Sox are actually playing your Red Sox and I usually mock people(even though we are not playing good this year). But since you have an easy question, I can answer it for you.

To be honest, Julian Tavarez is alright. Remember it's not like you're expecting many strikeouts(like Curt Schilling) or many innings(Josh Becket). And also remember that he used to be in middle relief. And you can admit that as a starter, he's alright(it's very difficult to make the transition). I know he struggle in the last 3 starts(I believe) but the first 2 months, he did his job. So, I don't think you should panic.

I think the only reason you're saying that because lately, your team hasn't been playing very well. Chances are that you will indeed win the division and you'll make the playoffs(not for my team though). The pitching is solid(pretty good on some instances) and the hitting is amazing. Not to mention your middle relief and Jonathan Papelbon(a very, very good closer).

PS: Jon Lester hasn't start a game since over 8 months. The last thing you probably want is to be desperate. And remember he's in rehab. You don't want to pressure the situation(like the Cubs do, lol). I do think your fine and everybody goes into a major funk sooner or later. At least, your not like the Yankees, wouldn't you agree???(Even though they've been playing good lately, some people still don't believe that they will make the playoffs....well except for Yankee fans).

Yes bring up Lester and put Tavarez in the bullpen. He is really good for a few innings. He is tiring a little when he goes longer. He did a pretty good job so far and helped the sox get where they are now but its time for Lester and hopefully Schilling will be ready soon.

Everyone has been saying that recently, but I can remember listening to WEEI and hearing people talk about moving Wakefield to the pen when Lester comes up. He is sturggling yes, but the problem is that Lester's numbers in AAA aren't good enough to make the organization feel confident bringing him up to the Red Sox. With the PawSox (AAA), he is 4-5 with a 3.89 ERA in 71.2 IP, Not exactly top numbers in the minor leagues. WHIP is up at 1.37 and he has only recorded 51 strikeouts. I think we need to wait for Schilling to back from his rehab; this should give us another arm, and by keeping Gabbard, 3-0, in the rotation (maybe make him the 5th man). Tavarez will go to the bullpen, eventually forcing someone to move to AAA. As for now, I think we really need to worry about the offense and not the pitching. Our bullpen is one of the best in baseball; I personally wouldn't like to have any other than our own: Snyder, Timlin, and Lopez to Delcarmen, Okijima, and Papelbon to close it out. I like the pen the way it is, and I'm thinking that Tito will make the rotation Beckett, Dice-K, Schilling, Wakefield, and either Gabbard or Tavarez.

Agreed. But when they bring up Lester, who goes? Piniero? Lopez?
With Tavarez in the bullpen the Red Sox will have both Snyder and Tavarez for long and middle relief and spot starts. Then when Schilling comes back who goes? Gabbard? Wakefield? Lester?

I think Julian Tavarez should go back into the bullpen. I don't know what they are waiting for to bring up Jon Lester. I think he should be ready by now.

I completely agree with you. Tavarez is naturally a reliever, maybe a long reliever or a spot starter if someone is injured. Lester should be back, so he should be in the bullpen now. He's so inconsistent.

i admire Tavarez as a character yet has been suffering previous due in the season getting outs. great guy and humorous yet Kyle Snyder looks to have greater suitable pitches and has been greater consistent the full season. i think of they'd desire to have had the two Snyder and Tavarez and dropped Gagne... I choose Wakefield replace into waiting to pitch.............. i'm confident he's dying interior...

Maybe...but your plan isn't gonna work.
Lester isn't ready to come up yet and probably won't be until next year.
You can't rush him...he's coming back from cancer...and plus if you rush him and he has to go back down then his confidence goes down with him.
