This is more of psychology question. I personally think that our eyes need to constantly be looking at and analyzing different things all of the time and if we are constantly looking at something we already completely understand then we get bored. If we get bored for a long enough period of time we get so bored that we don't feel like getting up and amusing ourselves with something else.

Boredom has a bad reputation. Boredom is an essential aspect of life. Unfortunately, it is equated with laziness. An error for anyone who believes this to be true.

Boredom, more accurately, is a mind that is not busy with some cognitive task. People who become addicted to thinking tend not to tolerate an environment that doesn't require thought. From early childhood we learn to deal with boredom through fantasy, daydreams, imaginary friends.

Boredom is quite enjoyable if you uncover the positive effects of this state. Boredom can also reduce poor health and many other illnesses.

Boredom is a chosen state that arises out of stopping the thought process. Are you bored when you think?

Boredom is a state where the mind desires some activity where none exists, thus creating a cognitive sense of stasis. I believe willpower to be a cure for boredom , not the cause of it. Boredom can arise from lack of training. Active thinkers are one who condition their mind through training, through imagination, problem solving or just plain old philosophizing. Many people like this can be left alone in an empty room and not experience boredom as they have trained their mind to avoid idleness. Will power is the engine that drives this. It is somewhat of an existential notion (and therefore IS a good philosophy question), from nothing we will something into existence.

That's a good question. :-)

Maybe sometimes we need to be like that. Sometimes at work I am so bored I could cry, but if I couldn't feel bored maybe I would take it out on someone instead? Perhaps boredom is sometimes a kind of safety-mechanism or even a way to make us slow down and relax.

I don't mind at all having nothing to do. I treasure that state. But I dread boredom.

Boredom for me is a state beyond that: on the other side of some psychological threshold, some tipping point, where it's impossible to persuade myself to begin any activity, even ones I know have the potential to stimulate me.

I can't will myself out of it. It's not amenable to effort. Nor is it moral.

It's pretty nasty, truth to tell. Nasty, and toxic.

being bored has to do with having fun. If you categorize some activites as fun you will definitely have others that are boring. Better to enjoy everything you do, but for that you have to be careful in chooseing your activities.

you are bored because your telling your brain you are bored, and the brain doesn't do boredem , so it will start to rebel on you and go into lazy mode. but your brain loves tasks and nice views that come through your eyes . so put some music on and tidy up.
