I just bought a dell inspiron 531s..........this is the RAM: 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz- 2DIMMs

What are DIMM's and if i want to put in more RAM eventually how many more sticks can i put in???

DIMM stands for Dual In-line Memory Module. Since it is dual channel, you need to buy the memory in pairs to add more memory. Since you already have 2GB, you could buy two more 1GB DIMM modules for that unit, but that really depends on how many free slots you still have in the unit.

Be aware that if you are using a 32-bit operating system, it will not see the full 4GB of memory. You would need to use a 64-bit operating system to see more.

DIMM = dual inline memory module.

Look in the handy hardware manual that Dell sent you with that PC. It will show you pictures and everything.

usually there are 2 slots to add more ram
