Babe Ruth was the greatest of his time, but he wasn't the only good player. Should we also take away any numbers from other players of his time? We can't pick through each era and point out every situation where the competition wasn't exactly equal. We can't toss Barry Bonds out with out finding every single player who also juiced and throwing them out as well. Barry Bonds will have his record and everyone will know that he used steroids. The record will be hollow. But we, can't pick and choose who's in and who's out based on variables, because there are too many in baseball. Not every park is built to the same specs. Some fields are smaller some fences are higher. There is wind and weather. We can't go back in time and allow black players to play. And in his time Babe Ruth didn't have the authority to decide if black players could play or not.

Yes, Barry Bonds should be chucked because he has been pumping steroids for awhile. But Babe Ruth was an excellent ball player, it is not his fault that racism was a part of baseball, he is really one of the best that ever played, so how dare you call him a fat slob!

Prove Barry was on steroids and I will jump on the "We hate Bonds" bandwagon. As much as every one likes to talk, nobody has proven a damn thing, and that is why I am sick of the whole situation. barry's medical records were subpenad (sp) because every one thought when he was out for almost a whole season that he wasnt really injured, but the records proved he was more injured then he was letting on, and steroid free.
How come no one is pointing a finger at the newest member of the 600 club, Sammy Sosa? Someone whispered the word steroids within 500 miles of him and he just vanished from baseball for a year, and came back noticably smaller.
I have my suspicions about Bonds, don't get me wrong. But, this is America. Innocent until proven guilty. And if PROVEN (not suspected) guilty, we should never speak his name again.
and as for Ruth, it doesnt matter who was allowed to play and who wasn't. He didn't make the rules. By your standards, we should throw out the statistics of every MLB player who played before April 15th, 1947. Get over it. If there were black players in the majors back then, Ruth still wouldve hit 714 Home Runs.
Maybe we should throw out every major league baseball statistic ever, since there are no females in the major leagues.

I agree that Babe Ruth was not the angel that everyone is trying to make him out to be. All professional sports have steriod users including golf. This was said by a professional golfer who is now retired.
People hate Bonds because he does not kiss up to the media and others. He deserves to be at the VERY TOP! Babe Ruth deserve to be at the top because he was not the only one doing what he was doing.

Hey Jackie Robinson played when Ruth did so he don't deserve a spot either right man! If Ruth was playing today he would still be great, and so would Robinson neither of them had steroids Bonds is a roid user and probably couldn't hit one out of a pee-wee league park without them.

A record book does not make subjective judgments. It just keeps records. There is no "deserving" or "not deserving". There is just "is" or "is not".
BTW, Hank Aaron played 9 years in the Launching Pad. Griffey and Sosa played during the same PED era as Bonds. Do you want to drop them from the record book too? (Says something about Mays, doesn't it?)

Only white, drunkard, fat slob... man, Ruth shoulda gone into politics.
I'm just here to take the two points, because the entire premise of this odious question is not worth real consideration. Go soak your head. It'll annoy the lice.

I dont think it matters what era ruth played in, he made baseball famous with his homerun, just because no african americans were there doesn't mean he shouldn't be stripped out it.
Barry Bonds has no been proved to have taken roids, so neither should he.

You cannot hold Babe Ruth responsible for how the league was run when he played! Bonds I can understand because he cheated, but Ruth did nothing against the rules...

Using your logic, should we wipe clean all of the records from before the league was integrated? I don't think we should because it would be unfair to those players who played in that era. Those players were just playing in the system they were given. Their records are just as legitimate as those records set after the league was integrated.
