I'm siding with Droagonskeeper on this one. Americans are famous for being a peace loving nation. I have painted my face with shellac to keep it straight.

I'll tell you why: Most people don't think anything they do will make any difference. This country touts is democracy but it's not a democratic country at all. Our government system is more of an oligarchy (rule by the rich) and I firmly believe that we are not capable of true democracy because ... as you said ... we're lazy.

Someone above me said that people protest at the poles, and that's a load of bull. If that were true, then the other 85% of America's Youth would have voted in the last election. The majority of Americans don't vote because of this "What's my one little vote going to do?" mentality.

Besides, just like being a "hippy" was stigmatized in the 60's and 70's being a "lib" is stigmatized now but sadly people today care more for what others think of them than the hippies did and do.

The Americans will never "walk out into the streets demanding Bush be removed." Never.

on a more serious note ...

Back in 1771 when this notion of a free America got underway, the then white populance was severely divided; about 1/3rd were Tory loyalists, another 1/3rd wanted freedom from King George and the London Parliment, and the other 1/3rd simply wanted to be left alone.

By what looks like an odd coincidence, 34% of the current electorate say they support President Bush. Another approximately 1/3rd are loudly demanding that we make up "high crimes and misdemeanors" so he can be impeached. And another about 1/3rd simply hunker down and hope the government doesn't think of any more reasons to raise taxes or kill their jobs.

Have things really changed in 235 years?

Maybe not. Maybe not.

How did it go with Rupert? I had to get my nails done. Then I took a nap. I stopped by work for a few - just to steal a 20 out the cash till - I need some funds for happy hour! What is this demonstration you were going on about? I didn't hear of one, and haven't really got the time between manicures and naps (and cocktails) to start my own. But keep me on the update list - I like reading about potential happenings that most likely will never exceed the potential stage.

Hugs and Kisses! Cocktails in 30??

You are correct when you say it is the lazy Americans who would like to see Bush removed, but lazy people never accomplish anything. The millions of Americans who work for a living voted for Bush, and since Bush got more votes than any presidential candidate in US history, those of us who are not lazy will march against any lazy marchers who want Bush gone. We who support Bush are not lazy, and we will easily defeat the lazy ones you ask about.

I think it's to late, not only has the worst of the damage been done, but he only has about six months left of presidency; we should have done it a LONG, LONG time ago and prevented all this $hit from hitting the fan in the first place.

Demonstrations for what?? The Iraq War?? To most its just not that big a deal. Even back in the day , the only reason Vietnam had any protests was because there was a draft

I am a devout Republican (Well, there goes all of my freinds on YA and a chance at 10 pts.), and I am so mad that my stomach hurts. He's something, that's for sure. I have never seen someone so inept in office in all my given days. He needs to be impeached for being so stuck-in-stupid. For being so narrow-minded, and for allowing the law to be circumvented to suit his own agenda. Not the agenda of the American people. I hope we never see another one like him again. I am sorry to everyone for voting for him. Please accept my deepest, and most sincere apology.

Sadly, it will not happen... people, especially young people in my age group, do not know what is happening around the world or in politics. They would rather watch Paris Hillton and Britney Spears than to make the world better for OUR future. I've tried to have intelligent conversations with my friends to try to inform them on things, but its not working with most of them...
