One that focuses primarily on character development, or one that focuses primarily on the plot?

I think you need to have a strong focus on plot to make the book hold your interest; However strong characters are necessary to add the right spices and flavors to the concoction. Both are very important, but without plot you have a whole lot of interesting flavors but no real dish. :)

I like good plots. For me its important to have a strong story from the beginning to an end. Like, recently i read a bood that had a very good plot. But unfortunately it went a little bit weak towards the end. See, a gem of a writing wouldn't permit that.

i like non fiction crime books. so i guess that would be both . you find out a lot about the development of the character while the plot unfolds.

Is better focus on the plot, in most cases when it comes to the character you can predict the end because you know the main character almost every time remains alive. ;)
