I am in Foreclosure, would like to know if there is government assistance?

I am in Foreclosure right now. I have heard that there are government assistance programs for those who are in trouble and in Foreclosure. Does anyone know any government programs and how to access those programs?? :-( :-(

Actually HUD has approved this counseling service to help folks call 888-995-Hope.

There was some talk about it in different states, but there also was a large outcry against it. The reason for the outcry is it was basically helping the mortgage companies, and people who had made bad financial decisions. In other words rewards for things that where their own fault. Personally I do not see a bailout in the near future since it is the minority (and not the rich minority) that are experiencing this problem.

There is some assistance available however it is not government and it usually costs something to receive it. Loss mitigation does work in this case and keep you in your home but will usually cost you the equivalent of one house payment or between $1000 and $1500. The only program for help is through HUD, and it doesn't give you MONEY. It gives you advice.

If you are in foreclosure, you are going to lose your property unless you can pay off the deficiency and quickly.

The taxpayers are not here to pay your mortgage. If something happened to you, not just the fact that you wanted more house then you could afford, your local church may offer some assistance. Otherwise, sell this house and buy one that is within your budget.
