I like how it came up as an issue with the league, but they post ponned it with Bettman saying "if we're to do this, we will do it right." Basically he is saying it doesn't fit with his marketing plans, so it will never happn.

I am willing to bet that any of us true hockey fans realign the divisions in a sensable manner and it would take under a half an hour.

Lets start by going to the classic names (Campbell, Wales; Norris, Adams, Patrick, Smythe). Anyone disagree? No? Didn't think so... lets move on.

Next topic we discuss schedule changes...

One way or another Balsillie will own a team by the end of the 2008 season and it will move to Ontario. Now it's just a matter of the Thrashers, the Panthers or the Predators. Realignment will only be necessary if he get the Preds.

They would likely have to do this with at least six months to a year in advance...although, with a computerized sched being produced these days, perhaps I'm off a bit on that.

I would assume, were they going to do something next season, we might hear after their winter or spring meetings this coming year.

All conversations I heard were it would only be after expansion or teams moving. And the talk about teams moving has slowed down too.

It wasn't even really a rumor, it was more of a suggestion by some analysts. I think Ron Maclean started it at the all-star debacle.
