nissan altima 2.5 sl...2003 excellent condition..
what cud be a reason..something serious?? nothing really? shud go to a dealer??wait for till something happens again??

the brake light went on cuz the car stalled,

and if the engine stalls no power steering hence stiff steering wheel,

When the engine stopped you lost the power steering. The brake light?
Was the emergency brake engaged?
Have it checked. Can you imagine making a turn with oncoming traffic and the engine died?

I will have to go with the first 2 answers on this. I recommend going to the dealer to get this checked out.

Hmmm...strange I would monitor that. But to be cautious I would check your brake fluid to see if it's leaking. Also while your at it check your steering fluid.
