Does no one actually do any work?
Is your boss underqualified, often irrelevent, but super funny?
Do you spend the day playing pranks on coworkers?
If your job is nothing like the office, would you want it to be?

If work was like "The Office", everyone would get fired. People actually do have to work and no one as incompetent as the boss on that show would ever hold that high position. The office is fiction--it has no basis in reality. Yes, there can be fun at work, there can be an occasional prank, but all in all-work is work.

Sometimes real offices are so much like "The Office" it's almost scary.

I once worked for this mortgage company and I swear they based Michael's character on my old boss. My boyfriend used to work there with me and he was the Jim of the group and I was the receptionist (what's her name? Pam?) Anyway, it was like that so much! We had a Dwight-like brownnoser and a bunch of stupid crappy meetings about nothing.

My job today is still a little like The Office every now and then, but not nearly as bad as my old job.

The reason The Office is so funny is because it's true.

Now, the boss thinks he's funny (and on TV he is) but in real life he's not. He just tries and comes up wit lots of stupid stuff.

So yeah, in my experience, I would say work is a lot like the show.

My last job it was. Oh, how I long for those days! I even miss the cubicles. We did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! Our boss was a pushover, we ordered pizza for afternoon snax, took extra long lunches, made up new games to play.....it was the most beautiful 3 yrs of my working life.

Nope! Too bad. it would make it a lot more fun to come to work. Just to watch some bumbling boss make a fool everyday.

My job isn't in too many ways. I wish it were though. Jim would be soo cool to have as a co worker. Cute and funny...what more could a girl want!?

Good thing she's not "hireing," I think she just answered "is your boss underqualified" with a resounding yes.

There are bits of it that everyone will recognise from their work place ... but I doubt if there is anywhere that they all come together like in "The Office"
