I am a lady biker and to be honest...I wouldn't have it any other way and cannot imagine not being able to do it...
When you are in a car, you look at the world...when you are on a bike, you actually SEE the world...

Depends on how I feel.
I started as a Pillion, and been that way for the last 7 years (just enjoyed the view) until 1 ride last year, I wanted to be in control so went and got my motorcycle licence, and I haven't looked back, I just love the freedom I get from riding, and if I feel under the weather but still want to ride, I go back to pillioning with my wonderful Hubby. All I say now is "I should have done this sooner"
Some people take their time in finding the desire for riding. and I had been many times but motorcycles never enthralled me or excited me,until I met my Hubby's bike and from there..... well the rest is History. Give your wife time she just might surprise you.
Edit: I now fit in riding when both my 2 small children (5 & 2 1/2) are in daycare so I can or when hubby and I set up a baby sitter to help us out for an hour or 2)

Hello. I love my monster 695. My husband has a Shmarley Road King. I had a kawi 440 when I met him he was bikeless but always wanted a Harley. The first summer we were together we double rode all around on my little bike. We took turns as passengers. Then he bought the Road King and I upgraded to the Ducati Monster. I laugh that it is so boring on the back of a bike I fear I would fall asleep and dont know how other ladies stay awake. I work with many girls that want to get their bike licence but are nervous. I tell them if they can drive a stick shift they already know how to ride a bike and I strongly recomend the motorcycle safety course to everyone male and female. Around my city at lease 40% of the riders are female. I would get your lady a little 250 rebel or something light and easy to start on and see if she likes it.

Hi there Grumpy old man and a damn good question
I too have a wife and she too can not see the facination in biking
I rode a Wing and she won't got on it and it don't come much more comfortable. Recentl 3 years I have gone over to Harley Electraglide. She won't get on that either.
Now generally I am OK with her choice but I do wish she would at least try it a few times. How does she know she won't like it. I hate prawns but I did try them and I still hate them. What about Marmite ?
I love her to bits and I'm with you on this one and YES I do think they are missing out
Either way with or without the missus on the back or otherwise keep safe and keep the shiny side up

I've been riding since a couple years out of high school. My sister was happy as a passenger. I just couldn't understand that. When I sold my first 800 Intruder to a friend who's less than 5' tall, I rode her old 250cc bike to my sisters for my brother-in-law to use. I was so happy when I heard that my sister had started using it for short hops to the grocery! Now she's thinking of getting her own bike.
When your lady is ready, she needs something very un-intimidating to try out. A 250 Rebel is cute and too small to be afraid of. The problem is keeping it available until she's ready. My sister took a year.

I LOVE riding! I started riding 6 yrs. ago but went belly-flopping in a field..scared the hell out of me! I wouldn't even sit pillion with Hubby for 4 yrs.I tried again 2 yrs ago & everything just seemed right! I took the MSF rider course and got my license. I now question why I waited so damn long! I suggest your wife attend the MSF course in your area whether she chooses to ride or not. Best part of riding my own is a common interest/ hobby to share with my Hubby!

Did you ask your good lady why she don't want to ride? Maybe she would prefer to drive. But then again she could be afraid of riding. So I wouldn't push her to ride. Maybe she will change her mind in time. But do me a favor, if she wants to go for a ride, take it slow. No weaving in and out of traffic, that's scary.
She may want to drive, be in control, so to speak. I've been a rider and now a driver of motorcycles and I prefer driving.
And asking if she the wiser one - that's debatable. I always wear my helmet and I drive defensively, like "all the cars are out to get me".
Be careful out there, we're in this together.

Riding is not for everyone. I have been riding since i was 8yrs started on dirt. My wife has never riden. When I bought my bike she said that she was interested but nervous. I sent her to a Motorcycle Safety Foundation riders edge course. I thought this was a good idea even if she only rode on the back of mine, at least she would have a better understanding of what is goin on. To my surprise she fell in love and we just purchased her first bike a month ago. So to answer your question it is simply up to her.

Just accept some people are quite happy NOT having anything to do with riding.
My Husband used to ride and he made a promise after coming off several times (nearly killing himself in the process) next time he fell off the bike he sold it (he is a shift worker so he works 24/7. not long after that he came off and it was sold days later (that was 15 odd years ago). Now his daughter and son-in law ride, so he's got itchy feet to ride (his daughter occasionally brings her little bike to visit so he can)
As for me I care not for riding ,but a trike.......... now thats for me!
