That was a lie the second he said it and he knew it. Not everyone is going to unite under him. I don't care if he was the most beloved , wonderful, most smart president in the history of the United States (even though he's not - that title is disputed between Washington, Lincoln, and JFK) some people will not like him (Loyalists hated Washington, Southerns hated Lincoln, and JFK we know what happened to him). It's not liberals fault or republicans fault he couldn't keep that promise. It's an impossible promise to keep, and anyone with a wit of sense should know that.

I love how it's the bitter liberals fault for dividing the country. It would have nothing to do with our President's lack of leadership skills and ineptitude.

If Bush were a strong enough leader he would have the ability to bring vitriolic Liberals to the table. Alas, he is not AND Liberals have good reason to be incensed!

I'd say he's pretty close right now. He has the lowest rating of just about any president ever, so that's uniting the nation. Ok, it's not the way he meant, but it's so totally a Bushism.

I think Bush will become known as The Great Divider. Many Americans have united in hating him.

PS. Thanks Bush for pushing people over to the liberal side. I know many people who filed registration to change their political affiliation because of you.

hey there dude, i'm from australia and from here i would have to say not yet. i reckon that the only way he could even begin to do that, would be to get all of your troops home from Iraq and Afganistan to ease the tension in some households over your way.
