Made In China & The U.S. Economy???

Question

Seeing as how most products are "Made in China" or elsewhere... How does this play on the American economy?? Why is everything "Made in China", to begin with and how would Americans benifit is we were making our own products ???

Most "Made In U.S.A." labeled items are generally composed of "Made In China" products and parts... How do we get the right to label them?? Isn't that improper labeling??

Please provide sources if possible.

Not everything is made in china for starts it just so happens that the majority of things that would have a tag happen to be the goods in which the chinese economy as a comparative advantage i.e. textiles and manufactured goods. Plenty of things are still made in other countries like cars (no chinese car yet), a significant amount of our global agricultural produce (rice being the exception) as well as things such as houses etc. The reason why this illusion is created that everything is now made in China is because the economy has faced such a sudden boom. Before a few years nothing was made in China whereas now a significant amount of global produce is made there partly because the economy has improved greatly and partly because it contains a sixth of the global world population meaning it has a much greater workforce to use.
Now as to the labelling, since the final product is made in the US it does make sense why its labelled like that beacause the final production steps where taken in the US and the money paid to the chinese people for constructing these parts of the final product is part of the cost of making this so its not improper labelling.

It satisfies the demands of the american consumers, which otherwise would not be fullfilled. So you pay the chinese to help you achieve the american dream.

Because they make cheap products. Americans would benefit by making their own products but there is NO WAY it will even happen. America simply lacks the natural resources to produce so much crap. Replacing chinese products with american products means more oil and natural gas would have to be imported into the country and that is just not possible.

Nor relevant. Everything has componentes made elsewhere, you cant expect labels to include all the information. Would you like labels that say "Made in China with italian machines powered by iranian oil"?

China eventually became a member nation of the WTO and got the right to trade their products. Labeling right, might have been included in that trade agreement.

Labor is cheap in China as in other countries. But one thing a developing country failed to consider is the kind of material and the quality of the finish product differs. I am not an American but I find American products excellent! Though expensive, I'll still patrionize them. Let's learn and stay partiotism.

The main reason why almost everything that we buy is made in other countries is because of cheap labor. An American manufacturer can pay foriegn workers extremely less money than American workers because of the currency exchange rate. For instance, I recently bought a pair of jeans that sell for over $200 for just $60 from a China Wholesaler. 1 dollar in the U.S. is equal to $10 in Mexico and 1 dollar in the U.S. is equal to $7.56 in China.

everything's made in china because they have extremely low labor costs. it's cheaper to ship raw material overseas and assemble it in china then ship back to u.s. for sale than it is to just manufacture in usa.
u.s. business realized about 25 years ago that they could outsource and save tons on labor costs. the effect of this is american businesses and investors profit heavily but middle class and lower class suffers immensely due to lack of jobs. i think if you crunch the numbers outsourcing is a net loss to the overall economy.
the 'made in the usa' seal requires a product to have at least 75% of the product's raw material and manufacturing come from america. funny thing: none of the big 3 american auto makers qualify as 'made in america'.

cost too much to make in the United States.. so they move stuff into china... currently most of the things u use everyday and wear is made in china.. theres nothing u can do about it.. and adjusting for made in USA material is going to be hard because most of the factories are based in china .
