talk to a real estate agent. A good one should have lists of grants that are given by different cities. Usually though it's for first time home owners and there's a cap on how much income you earn. It's not too hard to get one, it's just a bit lengthy and some real estate agents don't bother but there are a few out there that know how to work them.

Despite what the guy in the question mark suit says, there is no free money to buy a home.
There are some great first time home buyers programs out there, But don't go to people spamming the boards to check them out, ask a lender in your area.

There are no general grants for first time home buyers, of which I am aware. Individual states may offer something, or perhaps a municipality. However, if you're looking to the federal government for one, they don't exist.

Hah! good luck with that.
Unless you are a minority you don't have much of a chance. Then you have to hope your writing skills are up to par to write up your grant proposal.
Grants like that are usually moneys given to fix things, not to help you personally.
I have looked in to it myself. Getting a grant for anything is a LOT of work and luck. :0\
