There are millions out there. Because there are thousands of terrorist groups all over the world.
Terrorists have been around since the dawn of civilization. We used to call them by different names -- barbarians, bandits, brigands, pirates, criminals -- but the concept is ancient.
As long as there are people motived by hate and prejudice, there will be people who use that to cause harm. And as long as we can be manipulated through fear, there will be people who take advantage of that.
You cannot defeat an idea through force of arms.

What a stupid, stupid, ill-informed careless question!!!! How many terrorists are out here? You might as well ask how long is a piece of string. You are a NUMPTY for even asking this. For every terrorists killed 3 will take his/her place. Everybody knows that. There isn't a finite number. Terrorists are created by the HOUR. You don't join up. There is no recruiting office. There is no census. Nobody holds stats (apart from maybe the leader and his lieutenant). Now count that !!!

the problem with terrorists is that they are like flatworms. the more you cut em to pieces, the more you end up with.

hypothetical question: a more technologically advanced and militarily more powerful Muslim nation invades America. Just how many of the millions of peaceful citizens in this nation do you think would suddenly become "terrorist" and "insurgents" in the eyes of their occupier?
lots, including this writer, as would you.
the point is this; as long as we are in Iraq there will be (or we will continue to create) people willing to kill us or willing to die trying.
Wouldn't you do the same to defend your country from an invading force as politically, socially, and economically different from us as many of the Muslim nations are?
this isn't a hard logic or concept to grasp.

It's like asking how many roaches do we have to kill before we're safe.
You have to go to the source. You have to convince people that there are better solutions than terrorism and violence. So far I haven't seen a plan for that, just a lot of violence.
