you're kidding, right?

When the Beatles sing slow enough to really hear the vocalizations it's obvious, especially early in their careers. She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah...

Listen to the vowel pronunciations. Not to mention some of the vocabulary. Then again, I was there when British invasion began. It was very obvious at the time.
I'm not a gay basher by any means, but in Elton's case there's a bit of a mixture in verbage. That throws you off on his recognizing the accent, well I notice it anyway.
And the Stone's are just out there. If you can't pick up on Mick's strong accent you're just not listening. He's barely understandable at times. Although, I guess with those lips it's no wonder. flap, flap, bbbb-bbb
I can't get no,...no, no, no, hey, hey, hey
what'd I say?

Heck, if I know?

added later- I own a record store. Not CD's or tapes but real records, I dug up some original albums and played them while ago. There is no doubt these boys had some serious accents in their early work.
Then again, I'm from Texas and most of y'all sound funny anyway. heh... ;-)

I don't know why the accent is lost during singing!!! It may be that during singing, a person drags out vowel sounds longer than consonants in order to showcase the voice. The beatles studied American Rock'nRollers before they hit it big!!!
May God bless you.
P.S. Celine Dion is French and speaks with a French accent, but the accent is lost when she sings, too!!!

Singing and speaking require vocal muscles to function differently. Mel Tillis is a country singer (older) who has a terrible studdering problem but sings great, Jim Nabors (Gomer Pyle UMC) talked funny, looks silly but has a wonderful singing voice. Their accent is not as noticeable when they sing.

They do, its just not as thick, because when you sing your aiming to hit a desired note, and that of your voice is often higher than that of conversation levels. music is universal, oh yeah, that's why they are famous to because of the ability to sound good while singing and not like some bloke from Europe;-)

When you sing, you lose your accent. Similar to a person that stutters doesn't stutter when they sing.

They do sometimes and then SOMETIMES they DO NOT, I guess it depends on what SHOW or STUDIO CUT you hear...

We all speak differently from time to time eh?>

A kid from canada or CT can play a cold case on ENGLISH CHANNELS and then ZAP RIGHT back for a HOT RUSH to the binanza... you may see such on the tube in time...

I know it's funny how they sing like American's but I guess when they sing it just comes out like that. It's weird. But who cares.
