I had 2 oscars in a 75 gallon tank. I put them in there about the same time so they are close to the same size. We moved them to a 55 gallon tank with a pleko because they kept eating all of the smaller fish. Ours fight occassionally but they are both still alive and we've had them for a few years. I don't think they would kill each other unless one is significantly bigger but they will probably eat smaller fish if they will fit in their mouth.

Rubble, like in your question about the Dempsey and Oscar, people really don't tell you about tank requirements just to give you a hard time. In reality, there are always going to be exceptions to what you can do. The problem here is filtration requirements. A common misconception is to go and look at a pet store and feel you have the same capabilities when you don't. Consider the size and set ups they have, and the massive filtration they provide. Knowing your situation too, where you don't have space and money, does it make sense to go this route? I wouldn't think it does.

Ghapy, soup, chris, and myself are trying to tell you, not just because of chichilds and thier fighting, but you must seriously account on filtration needs. This isn't the one inch thing, actually this is proof why it doesn't work. Basically filtration needs are about triple that of most tropicals because of ammonia production on respiration and waste. Ok so logically speaking, you'd think if you filtered the tank in super excess, and provided suffecient oxygenation you'd be fine. Not necessarily. While they grow sure, they'll thrive and grow fast, then that's when you run into territory issues with the Oscars. Dividing the tank isn't a stupid idea, and it gives you credit on foresight, but that's not going to be a good enough quality of life for them to do well, are very liable to be stressed as the space now gets compressed and die.

Oscars are great personality fish in my opinion and it's great if you could have more then one, but if you want to keep these fish for years, you really need to provide them a better set up, honest. Not trying to bust your chops but just relax when people tell you about the needs. I know you get various input from others and it don't always match up, but use judgement on the side of caution vs risk. Think about it like this. If a doctor was unsure what to do with you on an operating table, where your care and life hung in the balance, would you feel better the doctor erring on the side of caution or taking uneeded risks to satisfy his needs to finish the operation?

No, that will never work. A 55 gallon tank is only enough for one Oscar. If you attempt to keep 2 fish that can get up to 18 inches in a 55 gallon tank, there will be constant fighting until one dies. Just don't get an Oscar. You could put 2 Jack Dempseys in a 55. If you can't put an Oscar and a Jack Dempsey in that tank, why would you try to keep 2 Oscars together in that tank?

do no longer do it except youre keen to bypass with a good greater tank as they advance. Oscars advance as much as around a foot and advance without postpone. On ideal of that they are between the messiest fish I incredibly have ever are available the time of, so which you go with some extreme filtration in a super tank. That being pronounced they have super personalities and function a tendency to get alongside plenty better with one yet another than maximum cichlids, yet while youre unlikely to enhance the tank ultimately it in simple terms wont be a stable area for the fish
